Hello Outlanders,

We're getting close! Our book has entered the "proofing" stage and rounds of reviews and tweaks and hopefully some eventual approvals before it makes it's way to us as the backer PDF. As soon as it's approved and ready, I will be sending it out! Hopefully that'll happen in July or early August.



In the meantime, you can learn more about the current and future plans for At the Gates from Onyx Path's recent Online Gaming Convention!

May 2026 Update - Artwork Previews, OPP CON info

Hello Outlanders,

Our book is in the active layout phase! That means I've got a bunch of artwork to share with you while the pages are getting hammered into shape!


I've said that I'm really excited about this book and the artwork for it, and these bits I have to share really deliver. It's unlike a lot of the other Onyx Path properties, so it's just so amazing to see.


Before I get to our regular review, I also want to tell you about an upcoming chance to learn more about At the Gates and the other Earthbane Cycle projects.


A great place to learn more about pending and future Earthbane Cycle projects is Onyx Path's annual Virtual Gaming Convention! In just over two weeks, Onyx Path will be running their online convention - FRIDAY JUNE 5 to SUNDAY JUNE 7.


As noted, all panels will be streaming on Onyx Path's Twitch channel running Friday June 5 - Sunday June 7, and Actual Plays will be streaming at Plastic Age Plays channel.

April 2026 Monthly Update

Hello Outlanders,

We're crawling forward through art direction still. All of the tweaks needed for the map have been completed (can't wait to see that!) and now the Art Director is checking in with the artists to get the final pieces completed. Getting this project to the layout phase seems to be it's own mini-game, and I'm hopeful big progress will happen over the next few months. I certainly hope there are some artwork previews to share when Onyx Path has their virtual online convention at the beginning of June.

So we sit in "incremental progress" status, but I'll continue to monitor and ask about our pending Stretch Goal projects and share info with you once a month. It's not very exciting, but I want you to know that I'm at least paying attention and checking in with the Onyx Path crew and reading Rich's Monday Meeting Notes so nothing will be forgotten or sneak by.

March 2026 Monthly Update

Hello Outlanders,

Quick summary for the month: Our core rules are still in Art Direction, waiting on the completion of the remaining illustrations. No major changes since last month.

I'm super-eager for our At The Gates backer PDF, because it's a cool game and because the artwork and look is so different than the "usual" Onyx Path fare (although there's already lots of variation between - and within - their game lines. This one is just more different.) Anyway, it seems travelling down a different path leads to a more complicated journey. I don't know any of the details, but I'll continue to be patient and excited (and continue to play usuing the draft manuscript) and look forward to our backer PDF when it's ready.

I'll continue to monitor Onyx Path's information sources and update you each month whenever any new information becomes available. So let's get to it...

Hello Outlanders,

The quick update for the month:

We're all super eager to get our backer PDF for this one. The most recent mention in Onyx Path's weekly Monday Meeting Notes for At the Gates had a note from Art Director Mike Chaney - "Checking in with artists as I haven’t heard from anyone since the new year…". Hopefully he'll get that resolved soon and have the final artwork to work through the layout process. It is a reminder that these games and books come from the countless hours of hardwork and skill of actual humans, and as amazing as that can be, also come with challenges as well.  

I'll continue to monitor Onyx Path's information sources and update you each month whenever any new information becomes available. So let's get to it...

New Rules for Your Game

In addition to Encore, our stretch goal supplement in final manuscript development, Onyx Path is introducing new support for the Storypath Ultra system in general each month. These can easily be added to your Earthbane Cycle games or any game using the SPU system.

This Storypath Ultra Tasty Bit introduces traps for use with the Storypath Ultra Core Manual or any game using the Storypath Ultra system.

Traps are a natural fit for action-adventure scenes, endangering the protagonists without needing to directly confront their enemies. The characters may also set traps of their own to even the odds against a superior foe in pursuit. Regardless of who’s wielding them, traps ensure the environment’s perilous to any who tread carelessly.

Troublesome Traps includes:

  • Rules for setting and disarming traps
  • Expanded crafting rules for traps
  • New trap tags, Edges, and Area and Status Effects

The World Below: Buried Treasures


As you know, The World Below is a game of adversity, heroism, terror, and awe.
